Christmas Vacation Part 2 and New Years

Part two---Finally! After a jam packed four days up in McCall, we headed off to Hailey for a few days of slower paced relaxation. We watched some of the final college football bowl games with Zac's family, went on a snowshoe down to the river with Sherry, Jesse and Zac's Aunt Debbie, visited with Zacs grandma and grandparents, did some shopping at the Barkin Basement (and then Grandma Kathy's) for our New Year' Eve Party and just hung out.

Our snowshoe down to the river was a nice outing. It was a beautiful bluebird day and deceivingly hot once we got moving!

Originally, we had planned on going to the Barkin Basement (thrift store) for costume ideas for our New Year's Eve outfits, but upon entering, Zac noticed the skis. We found what we thought was a screaming deal on some skis for Zac....so we couldn't pass them up. The skis were in good condition, newer shape skis, perfect height for Zac and a decent brand....Atomic and they were only $32.00, plus an additional 25% off everything in the store, that brought the skis down to $24.00. What a deal...but it gets better....ski gear was an additional 50% off so we left the store paying a whopping $12.00 for the skis. And no we didn't find any costume apparel. But that's okay, Zac had a new pair of skis.

Well, come to find out, after doing some research on our completely IMPULSE buy, the bindings were racing bindings and the settings were not safe for recreational skiing. So, Zac put the skis on Craig's List for $95.00. Within an hour or two his phone was ringing with interested buyers. One guy offered $90.00 and was over in the same day to pick up the skis. The math is simple...Zac made $78.00. The next day, Zac found another great deal on Craig's List for some skis, this time he researched them and made sure they were skiable. Sure enough $75.00 later Zac has a pair of K2 shape skis and didn't spend a dime on them, in fact he pocketed $3.00! He's quite the businessman.

We (or maybe I should say...I) had fun doing some shopping for my costume between both of Zac's grandmas. Grandma Sandy had a perfect pair of gloves and Grandma Kathy had the perfect stole (spelling? fur shawl) with all sorts of fun jewelry. I was like a kid in a candy shop looking at all of her fun jewelry. I was pretty well set with jewelry, the stole and gloves.

Then, I got to do it all over again, going through my mom's clothes, boots, purses and jewelry. I loved every minute of it. Upon getting back to Boise, Zac and I went out one night and went to every store we could think of for suspenders for Zac and some sort of hair piece for me. I wanted a peacock feather of some sort.

Finally, New Year's Eve arrived. Jonathan and Anna hosted a Murder Mystery Party. All of the guest were given parts to study and then act out accordingly. It was a lot of fun. Definitely a New Year's Eve to remember. Zac had a great night and ended up being the life of the party! Zac, Jonathan and Kelly stayed up until 3:00ish playing Rock Band, rocking out. Jonathan on the guitar, Kelly on the drums and Zac as the lead vocal! I do have videos, but only at the right time and/or place (and with Zac's permission) will they be revealed. Let's just say Zac only gives that type of showing once every year or two...in fact the last time he took over the mic for some singing was at Jonathan and Anna's wedding. So, needless to say, it may be awhile before we are honored with such a performance again!
